John A. Altomonte

Chicopee - John A. Altomonte, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 21st, 2018.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York and was the son of the late James and Madeline (Carbone) Altomonte.
He proudly served in the US Army and was a Mason and a Shriner for many years.
John as an avid fan of the New York Mets and Giants. He loved his crunchy Cheetos and reading every word of the daily newspaper. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling, gardening, and camping.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia “Harry” (Feibel) Altomonte in 1994.
He is survived by his four loving children, Patti Reardon, Renee (Frank) Palmer, Alison Altomonte, and John Altomonte. He also leaves his two brothers Nicholas and James and his sister Elaine. He will be forever known as “Grumpy” by his eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 6-8pm at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. The funeral for Mr. Altomonte will be held at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 beginning at 7:30am processing to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery for burial with military honors.
