Joan M. (Norberg) Willis, 88, died peacefully at home in the care of her family on June 25, 2021.
Born in Rockford, IL on November 12, 1932 to Ruth (Karp) and William Norberg, she graduated from Rockford West High School and attended Rockford College.
Joan was a talented soloist who performed in many church programs at Court Street United Methodist Church in Rockford as well as with the Symphony Singers, a cappella choir, and the operetta. Joan met and married the love of her life, husband of 61 years, Richard, (Dick) Willis in Rockford where they raised their family. She enjoyed golf and had memberships at Forest Hills Country Club and at The Vineyards in Naples, FL. Joan and Dick retired to Marco Island and Naples, FL in 1987. Most of all, she enjoyed being a wife and mom and spending time with her family and friends. She will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who were close to her.
She is survived by her son, Rich (Tanya Lane) of West Springfield, MA; 6 grandchildren: Tracey, Brian, Lauren, Michael, Natalie, and Olivia as well as 3 great-grandchildren: Juliana, Ava and Keira. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Richard, daughter Diane E. Johnson, and brother William Norberg.
A private celebration of life will be held at a future date. Beacon Hospice and Sunset Memorial Gardens of Rockford, IL assisted the family.
