Springfield – Joan M. Campolo, 86, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at her home. Born in Springfield, MA on August 13, 1933 to the late Richard M. and Grace I. (Coughlin) Atkins, she was the oldest of 12 children. Her husband of 29 years, Orlando S. Campolo passed away in 1982.
Joan graduated from High School of Commerce in 1951. She worked at Bay Bank and Bank of America for 23 years.
Joan is predeceased by a sister, Nancy J. Clark and three brothers, Leslie J., Richard M. Jr., and Donald (Duffy) Atkins. She leaves four children, daughter; Grace A. Bruno of Woodbury, MN, sons; Michael O. Campolo and companion Tracy Hoar of Springfield, MA, Mark A. Campolo and companion Mary Akers of Antioch, TN and John F. and Laurie (Pastoreck) Campolo of Smyrna, TN, five grandchildren; Gina (Bruno) Wrightsman, Andrew O. Campolo, Leah Rose Campolo, Timothy M. Alfano, Vincent Aldrich and two great grandchildren; Julian and Jack Alfano.
Besides her children and grandchildren, she is survived by sisters; Barbara A. Rose of Belchertown and Luanne (Paul) Santaniello of West Springfield, MA along with brothers; Neal I. Atkins of Tucson, AZ, Kenneth P. Atkins of Springfield, George R. Atkins of Ludlow, Jeffery J. Atkins of Greenfield and J. Scott Atkins of Springfield, MA.
A Celebration of her Life will take place at a later time with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
