SPRINGFIELD-J.C. Kelly, 83, died April 16, 2013 in Springfield, MA. Born on March 8, 1930 in Bassfield, MS, he had worked for many years at Savage Arms. Mr. Kelly proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. A member of Alden Baptist Church he previously served as an usher there. J.C. enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball, playing cards and gardening and will be remembered for having the greenest lawn on his street. Predeceased by his parents, four brothers and a sister, he leaves his wife of 56 years, Alice V. Kelly, son, Kenneth Wayne Kelly of Boston, MA; daughter, Sharon Kelly of Springfield, MA; siblings, Charles Kelly of MS and Geraldine Kelly of Springfield, MA; grandchildren, Justin Kelly and Shanea Kelly Jackson; daughter-in-law, Donna Kelly of Springfield, MA; sisters and brothers- in-laws: Pam Kelly, Cora Kelly, Shirley Williams, Bruce Williams and Horace Williams all of Springfield, MA and Annie Kelly, Willie Kelly, Flora Williams, Deloris Williams, Ben Williams, James Williams and Henry Williams and many other family members. The funeral will be on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 12NOON at Alden Baptist Church with a wake from 11AM until the time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. For those who wish memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
