Jane W. Lawson

Longmeadow – Jane W. (Wells) Lawson, 82, passed away on January 25, 2019 in a local nursing home.

Born in Springfield, Illinois on June 22, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Vera (Emmons) Wells. She was a fifty-year Longmeadow resident and a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.

She was a school teacher for many years and a day care director for twenty-five years, sang in the Springfield Symphony Chorus, was an accomplished figure skater and pianist and enjoyed knitting, gardening, painting, and was a wonderful cook.

The wife of Robert W. Lawson who predeceased her on August 12, 2015,  she is survived by her son, John Lawson of Springfield, MA, daughters, Laura Beck (Eric) of South Hadley, MA and Melinda Jane Masters (Ron) of San Leandro, CA; sister, Victoria Hunt (Marshall) of East Harwich, MA, grandchildren, Rachel and Julee Beck, and Oliver and Emily Masters; brother-in-law, Alan Lawson (Mary Beth Tabacco) of Brighton, MA, niece Nell Lawson, and nephew Richard Lawson.She was predeceased by her cousins, Gail and Milton Farmer, and brother-in-law John Lawson.

Visitation is on February 2, 2019 from 3:30 – 4:30PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA, followed by a service of remembrance at 4:30PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.  Visit www.nefcc.net
