James W. Smith

James W. Smith was born in Hartford, CT on July 1, 1948 and served his country in the United States Army. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from La Holla University and certifications from New York University. He had a successful career as a Conservator for the State of Connecticut and as a Registered Investment Advisor, ultimately forming Jas. Smith Advisors, LLC. In his retirement he continued to enjoy to follow the stock market, travel, play golf and spend time talking with his grandchildren. Jim could often be found behind the lens of a camera, appreciating the importance of capturing precious moments in time.

Jim is survived by his best friend, companion of thirty years and loving wife, Ersel Robbins-Smith. He leaves three brothers: Dr. Robert Smith of Newport Beach, CA, Howard Smith of Corona, CA and Dennis Smith and his wife Patricia of Windsor; son Kevin James of Rockford, IL; niece Tiffany Joy Smith; nephews: Robert Kareem Smith, Ronald Jamal Smith, Brian C. Smith, Jeffrey M. Smith and Wayne Cantwell; step-children: Charley L. Jackson III (Ami), and Katina Lindsay (Jimmy); and his special best friend, Marie Roberto. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A period of visitation will be held at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA on June 24, 2019 beginning at 12:30PM with a memorial service at 1:30PM. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. Please visit www.nefcc.net
