East Longmeadow – James P. Lilley, 79, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center. He was a son of the late William H. and Mary E. (Pryor) Lilley. He was transplanted from the bluegrass state of Kentucky to see the world. Jim went as far as Chicopee, MA where he was honorably discharged from the US Air Force at Westover Air Force Base in 1960 and retired from Hamilton Standard as a machinist. He is survived by his wife Gail S. (Stebbins) Lilley, son James Lilley of South Deerfield, MA, two daughters, Jan Kerr of Boston and Jacqueline Castledine (Robert) of South Deerfield. He also leaves three grandchildren, Brandon Kerr (Carina), James Earl Lilley, and Aiden Lilley, and two great grandchildren, Liam and Sage Kerr, and three brothers, William, Henry, and Kenneth. In addition to his family he loved barbequing ribs, racing go carts, and playing pitch. He wanted his epitaph to read: I began, I begot, I begone. Relatives and friends are invited to gather Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 12:45PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA, processing to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery for military honors.
