James W. Laramee

February 25, 1962 — February 1, 2021

James W. Laramee, 57, passed away on February 1, 2021.  He was a lifelong Holyoke resident, born on February 25, 1962, a son of the late Ernest and Barbara (Lucia) Laramee.

Jimmy loved to cook and he could make anything taste good. He loved the holidays especially the Saint Patrick's Day Parade, making corned beef for the family to enjoy afterward and always having a good time going to Salem, MA. for Halloween, not so much for the holiday itself, he just loved seeing all the people dressed up and oh, how he would laugh.  He enjoyed cooking  Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, it was never about the gifts, just cooking and enjoying time with his family. He made the best hamburgers in town and was always watching the cooking shows, or This Old House, and anything to do with working with his hands.

He would listen to country music while working on his projects, or cooking with or without baby formula, was a question you might not want answered. He loved to watch football and it didn't matter what team. He definitely loved his New England Patriots, even if they didn’t make it to the Super Bowl.

Jimmy always loved working on his stepson's cars with them if he couldn't fix it, he would “Jimmyrigit” he would always say, the boys still say that even as adults.

He loved going to the Big E for one main visit with family, and then several times alone during the season to buy special Pez dispensers that were only sold there in limited quantities. He wasn't a collector and just had a good time doing it for others and said he felt like a secret agent sporting his sunglasses all over the place, hiding around corners laughing, and continued to do this long after the Big E ended.

Predeceased by his brother Ernie, he is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Bouthiette) Laramee, three stepsons: Robert, James, and Kevin Florio, his daughter, Melissa Laramee, three brothers: Donald, Daniel, and Timothy Laramee, his sister, Bonnie Cournoyer, several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA has been entrusted with the arrangements. www.nefcc.net
