James J. Gibbs Iii

SPRINGFIELD-James J. Gibbs III, 74, died on August 21, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Born on October 26, 1937 in Pottsville, PA to James J. and Anna (Greene) Gibbs, he worked for many years at Friendly’s Ice Cream Corporation. Mr. Gibbs proudly served his country in the US Air Force and was a member of the American Legion. Predeceased by his parents and sisters, Barbara and Mary Lou, he is survived by his wife, Elfrieda (MacLure) Gibbs; children: James J. Gibbs IV and Debra A. DeBour (Richard) all of Springfield and John H.Gibbs (Kimberly) of Hornell, NY; 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and his siblings: Robert C. Gibbs (Suzie) of CA and Carol A.Young (Kenneth) of FL. The family will gather to receive friends on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 8:30 AM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. A procession will form to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery for burial with full military honors.
