James H. “Jimmy” Bost, aka “White Eagle”, 74, of Worcester, MA left this earth on Monday, April 26, 2021 peacefully at home. He had 'lived' with small-cell lung cancer for the past 6 years.
Jimmy was born December 29, 1946 in Springfield, Ohio to Mary Lou (Greentree) and John Bost, Sr. He was the third of seven children. Due to his father's military service in the Army Air Corps, the family moved and lived on Yokota, Japan for 2 1/2 years. Upon returning to the states the family moved to Westover Air Base and then to Springfield, MA when his father retired from the United States Air Force. Jimmy's schooling in Springfield was at Brightwood Elementary, Chestnut Jr. High and Springfield Technical High School. He loved sports and played baseball in high school. His positions were pitcher and outfielder. He had always talked about wanting to be a baseball player and had wanted to try out for the former Springfield Giants baseball team, but when given the opportunity he was too young. He left school in the 12th grade but did eventually receive his GED 15 years later. Jimmy worked various jobs in construction including rough framing, steel work, and finish work. Although Jimmy lived in Shirley, MA and Worcester, MA later in life, he always felt Western Mass was his home.
Jimmy leaves his siblings: John Bost Jr and his wife Patricia of Tacoma, WA, Diana Garcia and her husband Timothy of Westfield, MA, and Mary Lou French and her husband Kenneth of Green Valley, AZ. Jimmy also leaves many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his son, James Bost, Jr., his parents John and Mary Lou (Greentree) Bost and his siblings: Thomas Bost, Anthony (Tony) Bost and Phyllis Barclay.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield.
