James F. Besancon

James F. Besancon, 83, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2021.
He was born in Chester, MA a son of the late Charles Besancon and Geraldine (Burns) Gray.
James resided in Springfield for the last 15 years and was previously a resident of Chester for many years.  James was a United States Air Force Veteran, was employed for many years with the Mead Paper Co. in Lee, MA, and later worked for Hazen Construction of CT, and was a painter for many years as well.
James was predeceased by his three children James, Lori, and Scott, and two brothers Charles and Douglas.  James is survived by his loving wife Margaret (Lesniak) Besancon, his Son Eric Besancon and his partner Stephanie Miller of Chester, MA, his daughter Teresa O’Malley and husband Jack of RI, a step daughter Jennifer McNew and husband Ross of TX, a close son in law for many years Richard Desrochers, twelve grandchildren; Jessica, John, Katie, Aaron, Evan, Scott, Erica, Sierra, Elias, Sidney, Samantha, and Courtne, eight great grandchildren; Hailee, Lorenzo, Giovanni, Stellan, Amelia, Garrett, Kai, and Aiofe.  He also leaves a brother Richard Besancon of CA, and a sister Grace Dugas of Huntington, MA.  The family would like to thank the Staff of Baystate Hospice for all the care they provided to James in his final weeks at home.
