Born to the late Jean Baptist Clermont and Mary Mongroo on November 18, 1960, he graduated from Putnam Vocational Technical High School in 1975 and went on to become a skilled and respected master painter, known for his dedication, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic. He also held a 5th-degree black belt, reflecting his discipline and commitment. Hugh had a passion for fishing and found joy in the simple moments it brought. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved nieces, Damayha Mongroo and Sharahya Mongroo of Springfield, MA; Phylis D. Gedeon and Tai D. Gedeon; his cousin, Trever Gedeon; his sister, Beverly Mongroo of Springfield, MA; and his uncle Gregory Mongroo and aunt of Dennery, Saint Lucia. Hugh will be truly missed by the Martin Luther King Family Services Food Pantry staff, as well as the Gedeon family and many others whose lives he touched. His legacy of hard work, generosity, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Please visit Hugh’s memorial page at www.nefcc.net for expressions of sympathy.
