Judy Lan passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022 in Springfield, MA surrounded by her loved-ones.
A life-long resident of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Judy was the youngest child of Alton Lan of Springfield, MA and Beverly (Kaplan) Lan of Worcester, MA. She was pre-deceased by her older brother Richard Lan of New York City in November of 2021.
After graduating from Longmeadow High School in 1974, Judy studied business and accounting at Springfield Technical Community College, and eventually became a CompTIA A+ Certified IT Technician, of which she was very proud.
Judy was a devoted sister, daughter, friend, and partner who always had a warm smile, a laugh, a kind word, or a witty remark for all those who knew her. Although she battled a devastating illness for decades, she was determined to live a full life, not only for herself, but for her loved ones. As such, she was faithful to her family and especially her mother, whom she cared for through her senior years. When her mother had to eventually relocate to the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow, MA, Judy was by her side every day, keeping her spirits alive, bringing a smile to her face, and always making sure she was happy and content.
Sixteen years ago, Judy was fortunate enough to meet her life partner, Bryan Fontaine of Springfield, MA. Although Bryan often joked that she only kept him around to ensure that her car remained running, in truth, it was their love that encouraged Judy’s zest for life. In addition, she became a second mother to Luke Fontaine, and watched him grow into the man he is today.
Always happiest driving her little yellow MG, she will be fondly remembered as the bright and bubbly blonde woman who drove her car around Longmeadow and beyond, a little too fast, with the radio blaring and the wind in her hair.
Judy is survived by her sister-in-law Seyla (Martayan) Lan, her nephews Andreas Lan and Stefan Lan, all of New York City, as well as, her life partner Bryan Fontaine, and his son, Luke Fontaine.
Private services were held in Sinai Memorial Park, Springfield, MA.
