HOLLAND-Hazel Lee Miedzinski, 89, died July 6, 2013 at Wingate of Wilbraham. Born on June 21, 1924 in the District of Columbia to Robert E. and Ruby Lee, she had worked for many years as a nanny for foreign services officials through the United States State Department. Over the years she received thousands of cards and letters from the children of foreign services officials thanking her for watching them and keeping her updated on their travels. A very talented crafter, for 17 years she made hats and mittens for the 2nd graders at Holland Elementary School. She was active in the Holland and Brimfield Senior Center, teaching the art of making hats and mittens to other senior citizens. Hazel was also A Soldier’s Angel, writing and signing thousands of greeting cards of thanks to our soldiers overseas, even crocheting helmet liners for them. She always enjoyed her weekends out, shopping at the Salvation Army, going to Walmart, tag sales and Taco Bell. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Martin Miedzinski Sr., sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Vincent McMahon and son-in-law Milton Stevens, she leaves her daughters, Carolyn Reardon and her life partner of 32 years Robert E. Sullivan of Holland, MA and Georgia Stevens of Cobb Island, MD, son, Martin Miedzinski and his partner of 20 years Holly Cheman of Monson, MA, grandchildren: Kevin and Sean Stevens, Anastasia Willome and Vincent Sullivan; great-grandchildren: Savannah Willome, Eli Oden Stevens and Makenna Sullivan and friends Honor Sullivan and Margaret Crock.
