HAROLD E. WASHINGTON
Born in Charleston South Carolina Sept . 21, 1947. Entered into eternal rest Aug. 2, 2025
He was the son of Edmund & Anne (Brown) Washington. He had 10 siblings that preceded him in death. One sister, Deabrah Simmons. Two wonderful sisters-in-law Beatrice of N. Charleston (George), Lillian of Charleston, Paulette Verta (Harrison), Hattie Mae, Judy of Miami FL. Two brothers-in-law James and Leroy Steffall. He was educated in the Charleston S.C. school system, then the U.S. Military in 1968 moved to Springfield. In 1969 worked at VA in Springfield, American Bosch Building Diesel Fuel Pump for Mack Trucks. He met and married Betty Steffall in 1982 for 43 years of marriage. To this union one wonderful God-daughter Philishia Sheftall was born. He leaves to mourn a host of nieces and nephews; Dr. Tanya, Tara, Tawana, Nathaniel Jr., Travis, Michael, Ronald, Darain, Marcus, Robert, Darrell, Zandneia, Victoria, Shawn and Geraldine. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 10 from 2:00PM to 3:00PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. Family and friends are invited to gather the following morning, Monday, August 11, at 9:00AM at the New England Funeral & Cremation Center to process to the cemetery. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
