Guy E. Kenison, 43, passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2021.
He was born in New Britain, Connecticut on March 15, 1978, but he later chose to make Springfield, Massachusetts his home.
Guy was a kind-hearted superhero. He is survived by his beloved wife, María Irene Kenison, and his “fur baby” Zeus, his mother, Lucy Anne Bryson, his sister Patricia Martin and her daughters and their children, his mother-in-law, Lydia Torres and her daughters and son and their children, his beloved niece, Aniya Lawson, and his brother Tyrone Manfredi, his husband and their daughter, Harper. Guy is also survived by his chosen family made up of lifelong friends and members of María Irene’s extended family.
He is predeceased by his other “fur baby,” Jacob Ewok Kenison.
Guy was a devoted husband, son, brother, and friend. He spent every waking moment making sure his wife knew how much she was loved. He was loyal, honest, generous, and always tried to do right by his family, his friends, and his community. He loved Springfield and served proudly as vice-president of the East Springfield Neighborhood Council. He facilitated free art and computer programs, summer activities and community movie nights. Along with his wife he worked with the city, donors and volunteers to establish the Springfield Book Exchange to ensure that every child had free access to books no matter where in the city they live. As a desktop support manager with CVS Pharmacy’s corporate office, Guy loved working with people to resolve even the most complicated of problems. He always had “a backup to the backup,” and was a man who had a contingency plan for everything. Guy lived life fully and with gratitude. He loved to laugh, swim, read, listen to music, and watch movies. He opened his home and his heart to the people he loved when they needed comfort, a shoulder to lean on, a meal or just a drink from “Guy’s Bar.” Mostly he loved to be with his wife and his puppies, cuddling and being present for every cherished moment with them.
