LUDLOW-Gordon L. “Bud” Maynard, 89, died May 25, 2012 at the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke, MA. Born in the Brightwood section of Springfield, MA on October 7, 1922 to the late Claude and Shirley (Goodrich) Maynard, he was a longtime resident of Ludlow and he and his wife were Daytona, FL residents for 14 years. He had been employed as a gunsmith at Savage Arms for over 30 years. A proud veteran of the US Navy he served during WW II and received 14 battle stars and 2 presidential citations. He will be fondly remembered as a man who loved his family and home and enjoyed a good cup of coffee. He leaves his wife, Pauline (Rousseau) Maynard of Ludlow whom he was married to for 67 years; 3 sons: Glenn Maynard of Chicopee, MA, Clarke Maynard and his wife, Patricia of Feeding Hills, MA and Brian Maynard and his wife, Debra of Springfield, MA; 2 daughters: Paula Garvey and her husband, Dennis of Springfield, MA and Elaine Denalis and her husband, Mark of East Longmeadow, MA; his brother, Claude Maynard, Jr. of FL and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Leslie and sisters, Ordna and Lois. Funeral Services for Mr. Maynard are scheduled for 1:45 PM on Friday, June 1, 2012 at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill St., Springfield, MA. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow at 3:00 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
