Gertrude (Ford) Cox, 89, of Springfield, Massachusetts, was called home to the Lord on July 29, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Perote, Alabama on September 17, 1932 to the late Will and Bessie (Chance) Ford. She retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a social worker. She was devoted member of Springfield Grace Community Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, gentle mother, grandmother and so much more; a true woman of faith and righteousness. She dedicated her life to the service of others especially those with development issues. She will be sorrowfully missed by all and remembered for her life of servitude.
Predeceased by her husband, Ira Cox, a daughter Pattie Woods and three brothers and three sisters, she leaves her sons: Isaiah Ford and Orsbie Goodwin of Florida and David Goodwin of Georgia; daughters: Peggy Spencer and Cynthia Cox of Springfield.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC and a service will be held on August 12, 2022 at 11 AM at Springfield Grace Community Baptist Church, Springfield. Services will also be held at Carter Funeral Home, Union Springs, Alabama with burial in New Union Grove Baptist Cemetery, Banks, Alabama.
