Georgette Armande Sickle died peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at home.
She was born May 4, 1920 in Great Britain of Belgian parents. Raised in Brussels, Belgium, she survived the German occupation of World War II. That experience gave her great strength and optimism, traits that set an example for all that had the fortune to know her.
She was a war bride predeceased by her husband, Norbert H Sickle. They raised their family of four children in Pittsburgh, PA. For the past few years she lived with her daughter, Christine, in Longmeadow, MA.
Georgette was very talented and had an eye for the beautiful and elegant. She was an artist and an exquisite cook. Each meal was presented with grace and tasted better than it looked. She also enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and golf, and socializing with her many friends. Mostly though she loved and supported her family.
Georgette will be dearly missed by her children; Christine, Daniel and his wife Linda, Douglas, and Marc and his wife Sylvia, her grandchildren; Abbie Shepherd and her husband Tom, Ali, Nicole, Grant, and Nathan, and her great-grandchildren; Teddy, Georgette, Jackie, and Lucinda. Georgette also loved and appreciated the friendship and support from her recent friends Amy Bricker and Ed Shore.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, November 5 from 3-6PM at 47 Crestview Circle, Longmeadow.
In lieu of flowers donations in Georgette’s memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the charity of choice.
