George H. Martin

Agawam – George H. Martin went home to Our Lord and Savior on March 9, 2010. He was born on February 16, 1936 in Springfield, MA, the son of George L. and Frances (Ashline) Martin. For many years he worked as an industrial painter at Standard Electric Time. He had worshipped at Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Avenue, Springfield, MA. George enjoyed candlepin bowling and loved to watch television, especially wrestling. He leaves his wife Joyce (Huntoon) Martin, his children: Robert Martin and his wife Karen of New Cumberland, PA; Don Martin and his wife Rosie of Corpus Christi, TX; Glenn Martin and his wife Liza of Westfield, MA; Jeffrey Martin of Parkville, MD; Carla Strickland and her husband Bryan of Fair Bluff, NC; Greg Vachon and his wife Dawn of Easthampton, MA; Daryl Vachon and his wife Carol of Lakeland, FL; Joseph Schebel of Feeding Hills, MA; Gordon Schebel of Feeding Hills, MA; Cheryle Colson of Springfield, MA; Jacqueline Schott and her husband John of East Longmeadow, MA; and Janine Schebel of Hartford, CT.; and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. George is also survived by his brother Harold Martin and his sisters Lorraine Tower of Belchertown, MA and Beverly Lyons and her husband William of Ellington, CT. Besides his parents George was pre-deceased by his former wife Irene Martin, a son G. Steven Martin and a son-in-law Brian Colson. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 12 noon at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. with Pastor John Mueller, Trinity United Methodist Church, presiding.
