SPRINGFIELD-Mr. Gary L. Ware, 59, died July 29, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama on May 16, 1951. At the age of 15 he traveled around the United States, settling in Utah where he attended the Job Corps. Living in Springfield since 1968, he had been employed as a machinist at WESTVACO for over 20 years. Mr. Ware enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and tending to his garden. He loved sports, especially football, basketball and baseball and played softball for many years. His other interests included cooking, listening to jazz and the oldies. Mr. Ware is predeceased by his sister Mary Nell Johnson. He is survived by his mother, Ruthie M. (Ware) Bell and his stepfather, WIllie Bell, of Montgomery, AL; his former wife, Linda (Whitney) Ware of Springfield, MA; sons: Gary H. Ware of Missoula, MT and Marcus L. Ware of Easthampton, MA; six brothers: Cliff, Rodney and Wilbur Bell of AL, Michael Bell of OK, and Willie and Gary Bell of NY; three sisters: Mattie Ruth Bennett and Janice Famer of Montgomery, AL and Barbara Smith of NY, along with many other family members locally and in Alabama. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday August 1, 2010 at 6:00 PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. Visitation will precede the service from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Mr. Ware’s funeral and burial services will be held at a later date in Montgomery, AL.
