Gary Michael Turner, 62, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 13, 2022.
A lifelong Springfield resident, he was born on November 19, 1959, a son of Beatrice (Hebert) Turner and the late Charles Turner. He leaves behind his beloved wife Katherine Lovell, wife for 19 years and his partner for 32 years. He also leaves a beautiful, loved daughter, Jennifer Stuart and his grandchild Kayden Stuart-Ramachandran of Gainsville, FL. He is also now parted from his sisters: Sharon Gaudet of Webster, MA, Cindy Douglass of Alabama and brother Paul Harbour of Russell, MA. He also leaves behind his nephews, Michael Leary and Charles Gaudet of CT and numerous cousins and aunts from his mother’s large extended family, Michael Kane and Scott Kane of Boston, his aunt Julie Noonan of Chicopee, MA among others.
Family was extremely important to Gary and he was proud of his roots both in Tennessee and Fairfax, VT. Gary was a very gregarious guy. At his job as a salesman for 20 years at Comcast, he was known to be able to sell ice to eskimos. He won three cruises while there due to his enormous talent. He served in the Army Reserves for over 20 years and had just retired a year ago. He loved playing army and leading drills. He was known as a solid team leader, but also a prankster who loved to tease. His other great love was ice hockey. From an early age playing in the streets, he graduated to playing in at least four ice hockey leagues in Springfield, Holyoke, Enfield, CT and Brattleboro, VT. He attended many challenge cup events at Lake Placid, NY and two weeks a year he would go for professionally supervised training and playing in tournaments where he won many medals. He will be missed very much by all who knew him. Rest in peace Gary. We love you.
