SPRINGFIELD - Gary R. Brehart, 71, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center. A lifelong Springfield resident, he was born on September 30, 1945, a son of the late Wesley and Eleanor (Moon) Brehart. He attended local schools and served honorably in the U S Navy and was a supervisor for the U. S. Postal Service.
Gary was a loyal, intellectual and caring person who loved history and enjoyed miniature wargaming. He is survived by his wife, Sally (Cyr) Brehart, his son, Philip Brehart and his wife Karen of Wilbraham and daughter Leah Zeppos of Berlin, Germany. He also leaves two brothers, Raymond Brehart and his wife Yvonne, and Paul Brehart and his wife Karen, both of Illinois; three sisters, Shirley Flanders of Belchertown, Barbara Derose and her husband Lawrence and Delores Morin and her husband Raymond of Springfield and four grandchildren, Philip and Charles Brehart and Sophia and Helena Zeppos. He also leaves John Connell of East Longmeadow.
A gathering to honor the life of Gary will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 beginning at 10 AM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA with a service to follow at 11 AM.
