Eric A. Gagnon

CHESTER-Mr. Eric Alan Gagnon, 50, of 20 Williams Street, Chester, Massachusetts, died March 9, 2011 unexpectedly at home. He was born on July 7, 1960 in Portland, Maine to Francis and Vera Gagnon. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Carol Proctor, with whom he had resided. Eric attended St. Mark’s Elementary School and St. Joseph’s High School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from Blue Ridge Mountain High School in Pottsville, Pennsylvania in 1979 where he resided with his parents. After high school Eric moved to Rochester, New Hampshire with his family for several years, then to New London, Connecticut and eventually to Petersburg, Virginia. He returned to Chester, Massachusetts in 1999 where he resided with his sister and nephews, Aaron and Isaac Proctor. Eric was employed as a cook with local businesses in the area. He enjoyed camping and hiking, especially on the Appalachian Trail with his beloved and faithful companion, Lucy, and playing an occasional round of golf. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Forest, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Barbara DiPietro, of Westfield, Massachusetts and his brother, Scott Gagnon, of Becket, Massachusetts and their spouses; thirteen nieces and nephews and thirteen great nieces and nephews. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Finally, Eric, you found the peace that so long you sought as we bow our hearts in prayer and thought.
