SPRINGFIELD — Emmanuel H. Weeks, 58, beloved husband of Betty V. (Baynes) Weeks passed away at home on March 7, 2014. A selfless man, he proudly served his country and his God. He retired from the US Army as a sargeant after 20 years of service. He was a member of Shiloh Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as a deacon, fed the homeless, cooked for the church and delivered baskets for Thanksgiving. Born in Panama on December 31, 1955 to Wilbert and Louisa (Yard) Weeks, he is predeceased by his father and his son Emmanuel H. Weeks Jr., who died tragically on August 13, 2005. He leaves his wife Betty, daughter Gwendolyn Weeks-Cromartie and her husband Steven Cromartie of Philadelphia, PA.; his mother, Louisa Yard Slyfield, sisters: Valerie Weeks, Janet Weeks, Viviene Smith, Veta Simpson, Florence Brown, Janet Brady, Linda Watkins, Alicia Gordon and Clara Snowden ; brothers: Wilbert, Raymond, Irving, David, Gregorio and Raul Weeks, Irving Lanier, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bolanos; grandchildren: Ziahanna , Miemmajh and Mialani and a host of adopted sisters and brothers and church family. The funeral will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 9:00 AM at Shiloh Seventh-day Adventist Church, 797 State Street, Springfield, MA with a service at 10:00 AM. Burial with full military honors will take place on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
