Elizabeth S. Erickson

Agawam - Elizabeth S. (Sargent) Erickson, 94, died June 20, 2009 at home. She was born in Norwich, CT to the late Thomas and Ella (MacCauley) Sargent. A graduate of Springfield Hospital School of Nursing, she was awarded the Pierce Award for Outstanding Student of 1938. She worked as a nursing instructor at Springfield Hospital, a store nurse at Albert Steiger, Co. and a staff nurse at Goodwill Industries in East Longmeadow. Elizabeth and her husband were long time residents of East Longmeadow and in 1970 they began wintering in St. Augustine, FL and summered at Lake Champlain, VT. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Erickson; and three siblings: Charles and Thomas Sargent and Eleanor Montgomery. She leaves a son, Charles Erickson and his wife, Paulette, of Waterville, VT; two daughters: Ellen Peles and her husband, James, and Elizabeth Gutermann and her husband, Donald, all of Agawam; a sister, Edith Cross of Norwich, CT; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many other family members.
