SPRINGFIELD –Elizabeth has been a lifelong resident of Springfield, Massachusetts, where she retired from the Springfield School Department. Elizabeth enjoyed fishing and cooking. She was also crowned Ms. Baltimore in the early 1950’s.
Elizabeth is pre-deceased by her mother Dorothy and father Claude Cooke, godfather Samuel Orr and two brothers, Jerry and Simuel. She is survived by her godmother LuLu Orr and a special cousin Audrey Jones. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory five daughters: Jacqueline Lewis, Robin Shabazz, Desiree Jones and her husband Keith, Denise Hopper and her husband Albert Grant and Laurie Lanier and her husband Cheldon, one son Sheldon Cooney; one sister Sherrie Turner and her husband William; one brother Claude Cooke Jr. and his wife Connie; three stepsisters: Claudette Cooke , Agnes Wilkins and Alice Wilkins; two godsisters Lynn Orr-Walker and Barbara Orr-Ryans; two godbrothers Russell Orr and Sunny Orr; thirteen grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives to cherish her memory.
The funeral for Elizabeth is on Saturday, June 7, 2014 with visitation from 11:00AM to 12:00PM. Bishop Leroy Stovall of Holy Ghost Temple Church will officiate the funeral service at 12:00PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, Massachusetts. Please visit
