Agawam – Eleanor A. (Colbert) Tonelli, 84, wife of the late Joseph A. Tonelli, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2018.
Born on Governors Island, New York on June 7, 1934, daughter of the late Waverly and Dorothy (Fecteau) Colbert, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Agnes and Alfred Russell.
A longtime Springfield resident she was an accomplished quilter and seamstress and retired after thirty-five years of service from Springfield College. Her fondest memories are of Fort Lauderdale, FL watching the ocean-going tankers come into port.
She leaves her daughters Anita Correa and husband Alex of Springfield and Nancy Maczka and husband Mark of Agawam; grandchildren Stephanie and Joseph Tonelli of Springfield, and Michelle Velez and husband Matthew of Japan and great grandchildren Ahmiyah and Ahminah Murchison and Jayden Tonelli.
Visitation is August 24, 2018 from 5-7 PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. Her funeral will be on August 25, 2018 at 8:45AM at New England Funeral Cremation Center, LLC, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Name Church and burial in Saint Michael’s Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Shriners Hospital for Children.
