Springfield – Edward R. “Big Ed” Richards, 79, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in a local nursing home.
He was born in Springfield on November 29, 1937, a son of the late William and Mildred (Foskitt) Richards.
He attended local schools and was a US Navy veteran. He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved football. He is survived by two daughters; Kimberly Billips (David) of Chicopee and Kerri Richards of FL. He also leaves his brother William Richards (Patricia) of CT, two grandchildren; Kristi Roberts and Cody Richards, three great grandchildren; Nathan, Olivia, and Sadie.
He was predeceased by his daughter Kelly Richards, brother Thomas Richards, and sister Barbara Totolis.
The funeral will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 with visitation from 9:15 – 10:15AM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. Services with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. Please visit www.nefcc.net
