SPRINGFIELD-Mr. Edward A. Pitts, 72, died August 19, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center. A lifelong area resident he had been employed as an inspector at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft where he was a serious blood donor, having given over 8 gallons of blood over the years. He served his country in the United States Army as a sharpshooter during the Koran War. He was a member of Gray’s Club in Thompsonville, CT. He loved sports, especially the Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins, Colts and was a season ticket holder of the Springfield Falcons. He leaves his sons, Edward A. Pitts, Jr. of Springfield, MA and Joseph Pitts and his wife, Pamela, of South Windsor, CT; brother, Thomas E. Pitts and his wife, Susan E. Hosmer-Pitts, of Southwick, MA and grand-children, Shayla and Amber Rose Pitts. He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar W. and Rose (Johnson) Pitts and a sister, Virginia Rodeen. The funeral for Mr. Pitts will be held on Wednesday August 25, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church, Chestnut Street, Springfield proceeding to Saint Michael Cemetery for burial.
