Edward T. Ayers, Sr.

October 26, 1928 — January 2, 2013

WARE-On Wednesday, January 2, 2013 a warm loving father & friend left this earth peacefully surrounded by his loves ones. Born in Virginia, son of a sailor, he grew up at the Cape and continued to cherish those memories throughout his life. Predeceased by his first love, Marjorie (Hull) Ayers; his parents, Irving Wakefield and Mary (Dennison) Ayers of Norfolk, VA; sister, Carol; children: Marjorie, Mary and Stephen and his second wife, he leaves his five children: Edward Ayers and his wife, Christine of Springfield, MA, Richard M. Ayers of GA, Karen Brearley and her husband, Steven of Ware, MA, Patricia Carvalho and her husband, Manny of Chicopee, MA, and Ann Blanchard and her husband, Bob of Chicopee, MA; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his second wife’s children; his favorite uncle and best friend, Larry Dennison of CT and step brothers, Don and Bob Cohen. He was a loving father and loyal friend whose quiet manner would let loose when telling a joke, always seeing the funny side of life. Ed enjoyed working in the yard, watching NASCAR racing with his son, “Little Eddie” or as a gifted mechanic, puttering in the garage with his son-in-law, Steven. He especially loved spending many days enjoying the company and friendship of his beloved daughter, Karen. Ed will be greatly missed by those of us left behind but are happy knowing he is now sharing a “reunion” with those who awaited his arrival in Heaven. In accordance with Mr. Ayers’ wishes, a burial at sea off the coast of Provincetown, MA will be scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220. The family has entrusted New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill St., Springfield, MA with the arrangements. For full details visit www.nefcc.net
