Doris M. Ross

Doris Mae “Dottie” (Pickard) Ross, age 95, formerly of Agawam, Massachusetts passed away peacefully March 26, 2023.
Dottie was born September 18, 1927, the middle daughter to Earl and Marguerite Pickard.
She worked at Buxton, Techifax, Scott Paper and Zidex for many years and for over 20 years Dottie was the owner of a cleaning service. Dottie loved to travel both with family and close friends to destinations in the U.S and abroad. She was a master baker and cook and had a passion for entertaining family and friends. Her homemade chocolate cake was a favorite of everyone and no one to this day has been able to reproduce it in the same way. Many holiday meals were enjoyed at her home with sometimes up to 40 people in her small condominium. She was a compassionate and loving person who touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She loved to play cards and board games with family and her best friends Gloria and Al, especially Domino’s. She was always surprised when she would win. Her laughter was contagious. She made friends easily anywhere she went, most notably and recently, the Agawam Senior Center. She was known to “light” up the room with her beautiful smile and warm personality. She loved line dancing until she got too dizzy to do the turns. She often spoke about how lucky she was to be surrounded by loving family, friends, and wonderful neighbors.
She was especially dedicated to her 5 children and embraced each one of them. She made sure that she would visit each family several times a year, alternating holidays and special events. She was near and dear to her 16 grandkids and never missed a birthday, graduation, or a wedding.
She was preceded in death by her older sister and best friend, Virginia “Ginny” and her younger sister, Linda.
She will be deeply missed by her children: Donna, John (Patricia), Darlene (Norm), Denise (David) and Patrice: her grandchildren: Tara, Tracy (Jason), Jesse (Kurt), Stephani, Emily, Eleanor (Josh), Santana, and Newell: her great-grandchildren: Ashley, Shane, Devin, Corey, Elsa, and Grayson; her great-great grandchildren: Amelia and TJ: her niece Judith (Donald) and great nephew Jonathan (Mary).
Please join us in celebrating her life Saturday morning April 15, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12 noon.
