Doris Johnson died peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on February 28, 2025 at the age of 76.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Katherine Richard; son in law Jason Richard, and two grandchildren Logan Richard and Bradley Richard. Doris also leaves behind two sisters Carol Mulrain and Debbie Bissionette, and two brothers Chris Kularski with his wife Anna Kularski, and Stanley Kularski. As well as multiple nieces/nephews and extended family members. Doris is preceded in death by her husband Philip Johnson, her parents Shirley and Joseph Kularski, two brothers Joe Kularksi, William Kularski and a sister Sandy Kady.
Doris was born in December in Massachusetts to Joseph and Shirley Kularski. She graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer, MA. She married Philip Johnson, who she met through his mother Dorothy Johnson, while working at a local donut store. After moving to Wilbraham, Doris began working for the school bus company in Wilbraham (LPVEC) as a school bus driver and then moved up to a management position. She was able to retire from LPVEC and remained in Wilbraham with her daughter and family until her passing.
Doris was a dedicated individual who loved her grandchildren, animals (especially her beloved dog, Gizmo), her friends, the Patriots and the beach. She would vacation each year at either Cape Cod or Old Orchard Beach in Maine. She loved to sit in her beach chair in the sun and stare out and watch the ocean waves. She was very adventurous in the latter part of her life including parasailing, zip lining, cruising to Bermuda, whale watching, hitting big at the casinos and even riding a motorcycle daily. She formed deep long lasting friendships and bonds with most everyone that she came in contact with, especially her best friend Brenda.
A private ceremony is scheduled for March 12, 2025 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Springfield, MA where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Phil. A celebration of life will be planned in the Spring, where all her friends and family can come together and remember the life of Doris. Kathy will reach out and inform everyone on the details, once the event is closer. The family would like to thank all the medical staff at Baystate Medical Center for their efforts and care while she was at their hospital, especially Annette Aubert, RN for her kind and caring dedication for ensuring Doris was comfortable and able to rest. And lastly, Kim Pellegrini, who was taking care of her while she was still at home. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
