Springfield - Donnell Rodgers, 63, passed away on May 27, 2020. He was born on June 18, 1956 in Portsmouth, VA, the son of the late Wilfred Bivens and Rosetta (Rodgers) Anderson of Chicopee.
He is survived by his wife Ernestine (Yates) Rodgers, his children: Eric Hopper of Chicopee, Donnell Godbolt of West Springfield, Aisha Hopper, and Shawntiana Crawford, both of Springfield, his sister Kimberly Anderson of Chicopee and a host of other family members and friends. He also leaves twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A reflection from Kimberly: "During all of the chaos and confusion that is going on in the world at this time the one thing that helped was talking to my brother. He always had a way to make me smile. He always had a way to make everyone smile. He had a kind heart and soul that shined bright as the stars in the sky. Now my big brother is one of those bright stars that are lighting up the night sky. My beloved brother passed away on May 27, 2020 due to COVID-19."
Friends and family are requested to meet at the main entrance of Hillcrest Park Cemetery on June 25, 2020 at 11AM. The procession will then form to the memorial garden for a celebration of his life.
In following health guidelines, masks and social distancing are required.
