CHARLEMONT - Donald G. Beaman, age 81, passed away on August 27, 2014 from surgical complications. A resident of Charlemont, MA, Don was born March 29, 1933, in Churchville, NY. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. A scenic artist, Don received his BFA and MFA from Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, PA. He taught at Carnegie Tech, Penn State University, and – for 26 years - at Boston University. He designed scenery at theaters and summer stock playhouses from coast to coast including the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. He was a long time resident of Boston and Beverly, MA. An inspiring teacher, brilliant artist, Egyptologist, student of classical geometry, philosopher, Don’s tarot deck, Tarot of Saqqara, was published in March of 2013. He led workshops in metaphysical studies and pilgrimages to Saqqara, Egypt.
He is survived by his three children, Alex Beaman of San Jose, CA, James Beaman of NYC and Clea Beaman of Beverly, MA. He leaves behind six grandchildren. Prof. Beaman is also survived by four siblings: Kenneth Beaman of Ogden, NY; Larry Beaman of Bergen, NY; Diana Hamill of Rochester, NY; Linda Dougherty of Spencerport, NY. He will be missed for his humanity, his wit, his artistic and philosophical genius.
