Dionigi "Danny" L. Colapinto
April 18, 1929 — April 4, 2018
SPRINGFIELD – Dionigi “Danny” J. Colapinto, 88, passed away on April 4, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center.
A US Army veteran, he received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was an honorary deputy sheriff.
Born in Springfield, MA on April 18, 1929 to Frank and Mary (Giannini) Colapinto, he worked for many years as an upholsterer and was the owner of Danny’s Produce and flowers at the farmers market on Avocado Street.
His father passed away when he was 3 years old and he was raised by his loving step-father, Dominic Giannini.
Predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Annie T. (Fratamico) Colapinto and two sisters, Corina Morgan and Louise Hannon.
He leaves his devoted daughter, Mary Carra and her husband Paul of Springfield, sister-in-law Dolores Frantamico, many cousins and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral for Mr.Colapinto will begin at 9:30 AM on April 11, 2018 at New England Funeral & Cremation Center,LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA processing to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery for services and burial with full military honors.
