Delmar C. Wilcox

Springfield- Dr. Delmar C. Wilcox, 80, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020. Born in Grand Island, NE on December 19,1939 to the late Delmar P. and Dorothy (Miller) Cox, he was a distinguished English professor at Western New England University for 50 years, retiring in 2017.
He received his BA from the University of Omaha, now the University of Nebraska at Omaha, his MA from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS and his PhD from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Rachel (Johnson) Wilcox and his step-father Richard W. Cox. He leaves his wife Melissa Dane, his son Charles A. Wilcox (Nadine Yap) and their children Alexa Sophia and Zoe Athena Wilcox of Singapore, his sister Robyn Hines (Richard) of GA, nieces Elizabeth and Erin and his brother-in-law Jonathan Dane.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 6-7:30 pm concluding with reflections at 7:30 pm at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA 01108.
