Deborah Tillson Capra

HATFIELD - Deborah Tillson Capra died Friday, July 8, 2016 at home with her daughter in Ashfield, Massachusetts at the age of 77 from cancer. Debbie, as she was known by all who knew and loved her, was born in Boston on February 15, 1939 to the late Ernest F. and Gwendolyn (Bloomfield) Tillson. She was raised in Wellesley and graduated from Abbot Academy in Andover, MA. She attended Hood College in Frederick, MD where she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, and completed her Nursing Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital.


Debbie was a gentle, kind-hearted women who took care of others. She worked as a Registered Nurse for the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod in Falmouth, Massachusetts for thirty years, providing home care to those in need. Despite her struggle with short-term memory loss in her later years, Debbie had a wonderfully positive outlook on life and a great sense of humor. She was a devoted animal lover, taking in many homeless cats over the years, and leaves behind her beloved friend and companion Mia. She was a devoted and loving mother and friend and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her daughter Anne Marie Capra of Ashfield; her son David Capra of Hyannis; her grandchildren Ella Wilda, and Matthew and Connor Capra; her sister-in-law Ruth Tillson and her niece Linda Coutts, both of Wellesley; and, her nephews Rick Tillson of Vermont and Scott Tillson of California. She is predeceased by her parents, and her brothers Richard and Robert Tillson.

Debbie will be buried at her family plot at Vine Hill Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Dakin Humane Society, 163 Montague Road, Leverett, MA 01054.
