David R. Vooris, 63, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
David was born October 17, 1956 in Medford, MA and grew up in Indian Orchard. He graduated from Springfield Trade High School in 1974. David then enlisted in the US Air Force from 1976-1978 and was an E3 Power Production Specialist. He was honorably discharged and later became plant manager for Dan Wesson Arms. After the closure of Dan Wesson Arms, he started his own trucking company, Vooris Transportation, and spent much of his adult life traveling the country through his work. He always found ways to make lifelong friendships wherever he went and he made it a point to drop in to see his friends whenever he could. He loved anything with gas, tires, and an engine. He was always someone who wouldn’t just give you an answer of how to do something, he would teach you how and why. He was the life of the party at any gathering and no one would be surprised to pick up the phone and hear him singing on the other end. He was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter Heidi Vooris, her partner James Washington and their children Jordan Almore, An’Janae Washington, and Si’Ana Washington of Springfield, his son David Vooris and his wife Kathryn of West Springfield, and his ex-wife and lifelong friend Angela Roberts of Springfield; his parents John and Alice (Seferian) Vooris of Springfield and his sisters Doreen Vooris LaValley and her husband Jay LaValley of Springfield, and Darlene “Leney” Vooris-Lape of Springfield. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Due to current restrictions his funeral and burial with military honors will be scheduled at a later date.
