It’s with profound sadness we announce the passing of Dan R. Kuralt, who left this world peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family from complications of Parkinson’s disease on March 6, 2025. Born on May 27, 1945 in Springfield, MA, a son of the late Kenneth and Ruth (Callahan) Kuralt. He was predeceased by his younger sister Shirley Kuralt and his brother Roger Kuralt. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Maria (Martinez) Kuralt, daughters Anna Kuralt-Fenton (Stephen Rehbein) of Belchertown, MA, Christina Kuralt (Brandon Boucias) of Buckland, MA, sons Christopher J. Kuralt and Daniel W. Kuralt of Springfield, MA and sister Barbara Kuralt of Agawam, MA. Dan is also survived by grandchildren Olivia and Ian Fenton of Belchertown and Madison and Bennett Boucias of Buckland. He also leaves behind nephews Michael Lindsey and Mark Kuralt of Agawam, MA and their respective daughters. Dan attended West Springfield schools and enlisted in the US Navy in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1968. He continued to serve his country in the Naval Reserves until November of 1977. Dan spent his civilian life working for the US Postal Service retiring after 42 years. During the course of his career with the USPS he was a dedicated American Postal Workers Union member, representative and officer retiring from local 497. Dan was an avid reader, an animal lover and enjoyed traveling. He had a love of the ocean and enjoyed family gatherings at his home. He was also deeply involved in genealogy, tracing the Kuralt family back to the civil war and further back into Europe. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Parkinson's Foundation. There will be no calling hours. The burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
