Agawam – Daniel W. Hollis, Sr., 73, of Agawam, MA, passed away on December 15, 2022 at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center.
He was born in Springfield, MA on January 24, 1949 to the late Henry A. and Clara (LaRoe) Hollis. Daniel spent his life in service to his country retiring from the United States Army after twenty one years of service. He was a decorated veteran receiving medals for his bravery including the Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Army Service Ribbon. A life-long Massachusetts resident, he attended and graduated from public schools later receiving an Associates in Business Degree from Parks Jr. College, Aurora, Colorado. In his free-time he enjoyed fishing, bowling and going to the casino. He was a loving, caring father, grandfather, brother and faithful member devoted to the Vietnam Veterans’ Chapter 111.
He is survived by the love of his life of 53 years, Pamala (Pelkey) Hollis of Agawam, MA; his daughter Tammie Kniep and her husband Robert of Enfield, CT; brothers: Robert J. Hollis and James A. Hollis of Springfield, MA; sisters: Judith A. Plaine (Oliver) of West Virginia and Jean T. Hollis of Springfield, MA; grandchildren Andrew M. Hollis and Faith Morgan Hollis. He was predeceased by his son Daniel W. Hollis, Jr.; brothers Michael Hollis, Henry F. Hollis, Charles G. Hollis, Sr., and his sister Linda M. LaRoe.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 with visitation from 11-12:30PM followed by a service at 12:30PM proceeding to the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery for committal service with full military honors at 2PM.
