Wilbraham-Clifford James Langford, Sr., 89, died August 1, 2009 in Wilbraham. Born in Douglas, GA, he was a Springfield area resident ever since the 1940’s. He was a veteran of World War II stationed at Westover Air Force Base. Clifford retired from a life long career in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by two daughters: Lynn J. McCarthy and her husband, Edward, of Wylie, TX and Betty E. McDonald of North Adams, MA; four sons: Clifford J. Langford, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Ludlow, MA, Stanley R. Langford and his wife, Debbie, of Belchertown, MA, Daniel O. Langford of East Longmeadow, MA and Allen R. Langford of Springfield, MA; two step-daughters; eleven grandchildren: Clifford J. Langford III and Walter S. Langford of California, Harley A. Langford of West Hartford, CT, Melanie, Jennifer and Danny McDonald of North Adams, MA, Alexander J. and Matthew D. Langford of East Longmeadow, MA, Timothy A. Langford of Palmer, MA, Justin T. Mason of Florida and Bailey A. Langford of Springfield, MA and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Jacqueline M. (Baker) Langford in 1980, his wife Lucille E. Langford in 2006 and a son, Thomas Langford in 1949.
Private funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC has been entrusted with the arrangements.
