Claire A. Goudreau of Agawam died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Born in Holyoke on July 16, 1931 to Arthur Sabourin and Yvonne Gadbois Sabourin, Claire grew up in Holyoke where she attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, then completed her education at the Holyoke Evening High School in 1949. She enjoyed reading, discussing politics, singing, and dancing, and sang on occasion on a local radio station. Claire was employed as a book keeper and secretary for several area businesses. After marrying Roger Goudreau she moved to Westfield, and later moved to Agawam where she retired. A woman of great faith, Claire was an active member of the Bethany Assemblies of God congregation. She is predeceased by her brother Lester Sabourin and her former husband Roger Goudreau, and leaves three children and three grandchildren, Diane Goudreau and her husband John Cline of Hamden, CT and their daughter Virginia Cline of Madrid, Spain; Suzanne Goudreau and her husband Russ Potak of Cheshire, Massachusetts and Suzanne’s children Jason Craig of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Katherine Craig and her partner Tara Meehan of Brooklyn, New York; and son David Goudreau of Salem Massachusetts, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
