SPRINGFIELD-Charles B. Hutchinson, 85, of 307 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA departed this life on November 10, 2012 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA with his family by his side. Born in Peru, Indiana on September 30, 1927, he was the son of the late Bruce A. and Elizabeth D. (Dunklin) Hutchinson. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy aboard the USS Vega and USS Merrick. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal for his service. Charles retired from Monsanto in 1992 after 45 years of service. Predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Shirley James and Degena Sykes of California, he leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Michelle Plummer of Springfield, MA; close friend, Patricia Warren of Springfield, MA, brothers: Joseph H. Hutchinson of Denver, CO and William Hutchinson of Springfield, MA; sister, Helen L. Randall (Lewis) of Vernon, CT; grandson, Marcus Plummer and his girlfriend, Pricilla of Springfield, MA; great granddaughter, Arrayah Plummer of Springfield, MA and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. The funeral service for Mr. Hutchinson will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 16, 2012 at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill St., Springfield, MA 01108 with a visitation from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. For full details visit www.nefcc.net
