Longmeadow – Charles U. De Montigny, 93, husband of the late Bertha (Pacuinas) Edgington, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke.
He was born in Holyoke on January 22, 1925, a son of the late Ladislas De Montigny and Blanche (Rainville) De Montigny Gagnier.
He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1943 and served in the U S Navy during WWII. He was a long time member of the Elks and loved a good game of golf. He was retired as a route salesman from UniFirst.
He is survived by his daughter Margaret L. Flaherty and her husband Edmond of Longmeadow, two brothers, Maurice of South Carolina and Joseph of Florida and several nieces and nephews and sister in law Emilia De Montigny.
He was predeceased by his first wife Mary Loomis DeMontigny, two brothers, Norbert and Rene and three sisters, Marguerite Mercier, Lucille Gouin, and Eva Matthieu.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 8:30am at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
