Antonio Riggio

Springfield-Antonio Riggio, 82, died August 14, 2009 at Wingate at East Longmeadow. He was born January 1, 1927 in Locri, Reggio Calabria, Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1973 with his wife to raise his family. Antonio had worked as a construction worker for various area companies. He was predeceased by two sisters: Maria Antico of East Longmeadow and Rose Alvaro of Springfield.

He leaves his wife, Angelina (Bibiano) Riggio of Springfield; a son, Dominic Riggio and his wife, Lila, of Springfield; a daughter, Sandra Riggio of Springfield and her fiancé, Richard Lilly of Turners Falls; six grandchildren: Edward, Shawn, Nicolas, Dominic, Anthony and Angelina Riggio and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. from New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill St., Springfield proceeding to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Rites of Internment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, August 17, 2009 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, August 18, 2009 from 8:15-9:15 a.m.
