Anthony Underwood

SPRINGFIELD-Mr. Anthony Underwood, 89, died Sunday July 25, 2010 at his residence in Springfield. Born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1920 Anthony grew up with a love for fishing and shooting pool. Mr. Underwood worked for the City of Montgomery as a sanitation worker before moving to Springfield where he spent the last 35 years of his life. He is predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Millie Underwood, and his wife, Hattie (White) Underwood. Mr. Underwood is survived by his four sons: Willie James Freeman and his wife, Phyliss, of Montgomery, AL, Anthony Underwood Jr. of Montgomery, AL, Robert Underwood of Montgomery, AL and Jeffery Ray Underwood and his wife, Karen, of Springfield, MA. Anthony is also the proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. All services are private. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street is assisting the family.
