Enfield-Angelo Ernesto Raina, 97, went home to be with the Lord on July 11, 2019 at home in Enfield, CT.
Born in West Springfield, MA on October 26, 1921, to Pierino and Rita (Piccinini) Raina, he served his country in the US Navy and Air Force during WWII retiring as a chief master sergeant. He later retired from the Massachusetts Air National Guard as an aircraft maintenance superintendent. He and his wife, Madeline T. (Figoni) Raina were married 74 years and longtime residents of West Springfield and Seminole, FL.
A faithful husband and father, they raised four children, three sons: Richard E. Raina, who passed away on March 5, 2019 and his wife, Colleen Belisle-Raina of Granby, MA, Robert P. Raina and his wife, Claire of St. Petersburg, FL and Leonard M. Raina of Enfield, CT and his daughter Linda M. Brennan and her husband, Robert of East Windsor, CT. He leaves six grandchildren: Robert C. Raina (Karen), Julia Syzmanski (Kevin), Michael Raina (Linda), Stephen Raina, Kristen Raina-Olson (Taylor) and Mary Fitzgerald (Brian); eight great-grandchildren: Delani, Halle and Natalie Raina, Noah, Brady and Cameron Szymanski, Rocco Raina and Joseph Fitzgerald. He was a mentor to all especially to those who had a passion for both ice hockey and baseball.
The funeral for Mr. Raina will be held on Monday, July 22, 2019 with a wake from 11AM-12 noon and a service at 12 noon at Mountainview Baptist Church, 310 Apremont Highway, Holyoke. Burial with military honors will follow at 2 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be to Mountainview Baptist Church Missions.
