Alvin R. Walker1932-2012Springfield—Alvin R. Walker, 80, passed away on October 20, 2012 at Baystate Medical Center.Born in Hyden, Kentucky on May 11, 1932 to Robert and Molly Walker, he met his wife, Patricia Thompson, when they were both stationed in the US Air Force at Westover Air Force Base. They married in 1952 and made their home in Springfield where they raised their three children. He enjoyed sports, especially fishing and was one of the original members of the Big Bass Sportsmen Club. He retired from the US Postal Service as a mail clerk.Predeceased by his parents, his wife, and brothers and sisters, he leaves his children: Roger A. Walker and Kenneth G. Walker (Victoria) of Springfield, MA, and Nancy A. Walker of Columbus, OH; sisters; Betty Johnson of MN, Myrtle Walker of KY and Mildred Vandiver (Clayton) of NE; sister-in-law Nancy Watkins (Clarence) of OH; grandchildren: Dwon West and Keanna and Shirelle Lumpkin; great-grandchildren: D’Anya, Knia and Kierra Walker-West and Jamir Eckstein and a host of loving nieces and nephews.Visitation for Mr. Walker will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 beginning at 6:00 PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA with a service to follow at 7:15 PM.For full details visit www. nefcc.net
