Springfield- Alphanso S. Morgan, 83, passed away on April 12, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center.
Born in Anchovy, St. James, Jamaica on March 7, 1936, son of the late Ezekiel Morgan and Rachel Carmichael, he arrived in Springfield in 1962 and worked as a machine operator at Baystate Medical Center for 30 years. He loved fishing and deejaying. He became a member of the Elks Harmony Lodge 140 in 1980. He served on the Henry E. Kelly Council #2, participated in the New England States and Eastern Canada Elks Association, and served many years as a DJ at the Elks Harmony Lodge.
He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Wylodine (Crenshaw) Morgan; son Alphanso S. Morgan Jr.; daughters: Karlene McKenzie (Danail), Olive Jackson (Joseph), Vanessa Cestero, and Michelle Morgan; siblings: Denzil Barker and Keith, Sonia, Paulette, and Hortence Morgan and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral for Mr. Morgan will be on April 24, 2019 at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA beginning with visitation at 2PM followed by a service at 3PM. The Morgan family kindly requests that the funeral services be limited to family members and invited guests only. A Celebration of Life will be held at Elks Harmony Lodge #140, 73 Wilbraham Road, Springfield from 5 - 8PM on April 24 for all to attend. Please visit www.nefcc.net
